A lasting solution for excessive underarm sweat

Westport Dermatology & Laser Center is the first practice in Fairfield country to offer the revolutionary miraDry® procedure, a new treatment that provides a safe and lasting solution to excessive underarm sweating.

Excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis) can cause unsightly sweat stains, strong body odor, discomfort and can hinder social events due to embarrassment. If you experience unwanted excessive sweating, then you may be a good candidate for the miraDry procedure. MiraDry is the latest in non-invasive technology that provides a significant reduction of underarm sweat and the only non-invasive technology approved by the FDA for providing lasting results.

The non-invasive miraDry procedure results in a noticeable, drastic reduction of underarm sweat without the pain, risk, and recovery time of invasive procedures. Other treatment options, including antiperspirants and toxins, aim to temporarily disable the sweat glands requiring repeat treatments to maintain effectiveness. miraDry only requires two treatments to produce drastic, lasting results.

miraDry® FAQs

How does miraDry® technology work?
The miraDry® system works by delivering precisely controlled energy to the region where sweat glands reside, and eliminates the sweat glands non-invasively. Because the sweat glands do not come back or regenerate after treatment, the results are lasting.

Are the sweat reduction results permanent?
The results are long lasting. Patients can expect reduction of underarm sweating immediately after one treatment, with minimal to no downtime. Just two treatments are recommended, 3 months apart, to maximize the quality and duration of results.

Isn’t sweating under my arms important?
Your body contains over 4 million sweat glands, with only about 2% located in the underarms. Eliminating this 2% will not affect the body’s ability to cool itself.

Am I good candidate for the miraDry® procedure?
If you feel your underarm sweat interferes with your everyday life or you have tried other procedures without success, you may be a good candidate.  Call us at 203-226-3600 to learn more.
