What is SkinPen?

SkinPen® by Crown Aesthetics is a transient, non-surgical, cosmetic microneedling device for the creation of “micro” skin punctures to improve the appearance of the skin. SkinPen® is an automated microneedling technology device designed for use by medical professionals. Sterile microneedle cartridges are provided for single use only.

How does it work?

Microneedling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process by creating
precise, micro-injuries in the skin.

What are the benefits?

SkinPen® procedures are beneficial to assist in reducing the signs of aging, improving the
appearance of acne scars, as well as rejuvenate aging skin.

Who is a candidate?

One of the most exciting things about SkinPen® is that it can be used on all types of skin, on all
skin colors. Talk to your SkinPen® provider to discuss specific needs.

What areas of the body can be treated?

SkinPen®’s variable needle depth allows for versatility, and therefore it can be used on many
parts of the body, including the face, neck, and décolleté, abdomen, back…etc.

How long will the procedure take, and will it hurt?

The procedure typically takes 30 minutes. Most SkinPen users apply a topical anesthetic to the
skin prior to the procedure. This allows for a relatively pain-free experience. Ask your doctor
what they do to ensure patient comfort during the microneedling procedure.

What is the downtime and what should I expect?

The total healing time depends on each individual patient. Most patients have some slight
swelling and redness/pinkness (like a mild sunburn) for 2-4 days. Some patients may heal
completely in 24 hours. *Individual results will vary.

When will I see results?

Patients may notice healthier looking skin immediately. However, the natural repair process of
your own skin continues to progress over the course of several weeks. Damage that has
occurred over an extensive period of time won’t disappear immediately. You may not see the
final result for up to 3-6 months following your final session. *Individual results will vary.

How many procedures are recommended?

The number of procedures required will be determined by your skincare professional based
upon your individual procedure goals and the health of your skin. Most patients receive a series
of 3 procedures spaced about 6 weeks apart. Your provider will develop a procedure plan
specific to you, as well as a maintenance plan to help maintain the rejuvenating effects.

Can I wear makeup immediately following the procedure?

Patients typically can resume their normal makeup regimen 24hrs following their SkinPen®
procedure, depending on the area and type of procedure performed.

Can I get a SkinPen treatment if I’m pregnant?

SkinPen® is not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing.

Microneedling with SkinPen® can help to improve your skin’s appearance, making it the market standard.

SkinPen Microneedling can also be done with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

The addition of the PRP (which, can only be done at a physician’s office) will enhance the results
of the treatment on a serious level, and is highly recommended. PRP is a platelet rich plasma
collected from the patient’s own body. The PRP releases growth factors which stimulates new
collagen and elastin. It also allows the skin to expedite the body’s own natural healing process.
The clinician draws a small amount of venous blood from the patient, which is then transferred
to a machine specifically designed to isolate the plasma rich platelets from the red blood cells.
The entire process takes less than 10 minutes. Once the PRP has been extracted, it will be
applied to the skin in a thin layer, followed by the micro needling treatment.
